THE HUMAN ABSINTHE FOUNTAIN

The No Ring Circus’ iconic “sideshow installation”, The Human Absinthe Fountain is a living altar and interactive durational performance merging traditional absinthe service with the sideshow feat of ‘mental floss’ in an elegant installation suited for both cocktail hour, or as a mysterious nightcap.

The artists physically fuse with the absinthe fountain via medical tubing, and intimately prepare each individual’s absinthe drink one on one.

Performed at: Engage Summits, House of Yes, The Green Fairy Society, House of Wax, Wunderkammer Society’s 2018 Taxidermy Competition, private events across the US, and at Theatre Bizarre annually since 2018, where a secret room was created around it.

Sittings have lasted between 30min and 2.5hrs.

One particular achievement of note this year, Dunivant says, is the expansion of one of Theatre Bizarre’s hidden rooms — the “Human Absinthe Dispensary Speakeasy,” where two live performance artists will carefully offer orifices in their heads as conduits for tubes to decant the potent green liquid. Entrants of this room will have to perform a ceremony in order to fill their cups from their human dispensers
